About us
Aviation Club has taken off on the 1st of May 2009, aimed at creating and gathering under one flag a vibrant nation of aviation enthusiasts, pilots both commercial or private, licensed or learning, or soon to be, all fans of the Wild Blue. The Wild Blue: A myth long dreamt, that men made come true, when the wings which they engineered one day with passion opened for them, and those to follow, the infinite skies and the never ending space behind. Flying: A pure and lasting feeling of absolute freedom, of ethereal power over the elements, of simple joy. Who have forgotten their first solo flight? None of us has. A first flight so well described by Walter J. Boyne and Steven L. Thompson in their magnificent book, 'The Wild Blue':
The second touchdown was average. He bounced the third one and had to use power to recover, landing far down the field in a series of jolting bumps. And then, suddenly, it was over.
Sobered and trembling slightly, partly from relief, partly from joy, and partly from fear of what Dendy would say about the last landing, he taxied back to where the tall, lean instructor was standing.
Dendy shook his head, stubbed his cigarette in the dirt, then strode to the airplane, eyes on the ground. A wave of fear swept over Kelly. Had the landings been that bad? Had he failed again?
Please Dear God Let Me Win My wings.
Dendy paused while climbing up on the wingroot. He glanced down at Kelly for a moment, his eyes impenetrable behind the issue sunglasses. Then he slapped Kelly on the shoulder and climbed into the rear cockpit.
King Arthur never created a knight with a more eloquent gesture.
An assembly of knights, men and women who share their common love for aviation, this is actually your Aviation Club, a fast growing international organization that continues to develop over the five continents, thanks to a small team of devoted enthusiasts.
'I would like to welcome you here, fellow pilots and aviation fans, lovers of the Wild Blue, my friends. This club assembles all of us, for whom the ground is too low, the seas not deep enough, I name the sky, where mountains tease the clouds and stars lead us up towards the Infinite.'
